Help send young PJALS leaders to “Building Communities of Hope – Activists Mobilizing for Power” training conference in Portland, OR, Aug 11-13! AMP is a unique three-day training and networking conference for community-based leaders, staff, and volunteers of groups organizing for justice.

Hannah Dean is an editorial fellow for The Tempest, poet, activist, and self-described weird girl based in Spokane. She writes about travel, mental health, and intersectional feminism and is an active member of SURJ (Showing Up for Racial Justice) at PJALS and Books to Prisoners Spokane.

Micah KJ is a long-time American politics nerd who currently attends school in Spokane. They are working for humanizing the incarcerated through their work with Books to Prisoners, they really enjoy dogs and cats and just want everyone to have nice things.

Taylor Weech is the current Chair of the PJALS Steering Committee and works with the SURJ (Showing Up for Racial Justice) committee. She was the long time host of the social change theory radio program Praxis on KYRS-FM and spends her free time writing, reading, and adventuring outdoors.

This trio is excited to take their projects and questions to Portland next weekend to share learning with activists from all over the West Coast and beyond. We’re excited to deepen our commitment to leadership development and continue supporting young activists based in Spokane–we hope you are, too! Stay tuned for some reflections from the group on their experience and more opportunities to support and connect with our young leaders here in the future!
