Our Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ) Committee spent the summer doing community outreach at events and door to door canvasses with a focus on conversations about the proposed new jail and the racial disparities within the criminal justice system. We collected several No New Jail postcards to add to the ever growing stack that will be delivered to the County Commission.
We are hosting a screening of the Carl Maxey: A Fighting Life on Tuesday, Dec 3rd at 7pm at the Magic Lantern Theatre as a benefit for our local Carl Maxey Center. For more information, contact Shar at [email protected].
