Hiroshima Day Remembrance-70th Anniversary
Thursday, August 6th noon
Riverfront Park-meet between the Carousel and the river.
On the 70th anniversary of the US nuclear bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki we will gather in remembrance of the lives lost in these brutal attacks. We will release white flowers into the Spokane River and hear from community members.
The remembrance will be followed by a small delegation delivering a letter and petition to our local members of Congress. The letter, signed by 20 organizations from around Washington, is calling for cuts to the bloated Pentagon budget and preservation of lifeline programs that support struggling families and build true security. You can read and sign the letter here.
