The Smart Justice Spokane coalition, of which PJALS is a founding member, has released a letter to the Spokane County Board of Commissioners. We wrote to raise concerns we have with part of the current process that the County and City have undertaken to evaluate Spokane’s criminal justice system and the potential for replacing the current Spokane County jail. Our community must ensure that the goals of reducing the jail population and reducing racial disparities are fully realized before it can begin real planning for any future jail project.
