Our Peace and Justice Action Committee is joining the Friends Committee on National Legislation (FCNL) network of over 100 Advocacy Teams across the country working together to build grassroots power and advance federal policy. This year’s focus has been on repealing the Authorization of Use of Military Force which our committee also worked on this past year. It is easy to feel isolated doing peace & anti-war work, particularly in Eastern WA, so we are excited to join this network and build our collaborative power.
The committee will also be focusing on hosting community education events focused on the experience of those most impacted by US imperialism in 2020. Our first two events are this fall: Pui-Yan Lam on Wednesday November 6, 6-7:30pm at The Monroe Room, 2003 N. Monroe to do a presentation on her recent trip to Hong Kong and Shahrokh Nikfar on Monday November 18, 6-8pm, at the Magic Lantern to do a presentation on his recent trip to Iran. See insert for more information on these two events.
The Peace and Justice Action Committee meets on the 1st & 3rd Thursday of each month at 5:30 pm in the Community Building, 35 W. Main
Note: November meetings are at 6pm due to participation in FCNL training calls.
