Accompaniment Volunteer Training: Support Immigrant & Refugee Community Members
No one should have to face the immigration system alone.
Join Refugee and Immigrant Connections Spokane, Manzanita House, and Peace and Justice Action League of Spokane (PJALS) for a free Accompaniment Training and learn how to support immigrant and refugee community members during court hearings, immigration appointments, and detention-related proceedings.
The Accompaniment Program provides compassionate, in-person support to individuals navigating stressful legal and administrative systems. Trained volunteers offer reassurance, logistical support, and a welcoming presence throughout the process. While volunteers do not provide legal advice or representation, they help ensure that no one has to face these experiences alone.
This training will introduce the Accompaniment Program, prepare participants to serve as accompaniment volunteers, and explore how community solidarity can make a meaningful difference. Completing the training makes you eligible to join the Accompaniment Program, but there is no obligation to volunteer.
