Justice-minded volunteers, inspired by the need to counter Islamophobia and anti-Arab racism, worked hard to create an interactive, multi-media exhibit to educate against bigotry. The display debuted on Saturday, Sept 10, to positive and thoughtful comments. Our “Breaking Arab and Muslim Stereotypes” display includes videos on Islamophobia, anti-Arab racism, sources of stereotypes of Arabs and Muslims, and how communities have stood together against stereotypes and bigotry; displays on contributions of Arabs and Muslims throughout history; examples of how anti-Arab racism and Islamophobia have been used to manipulate national debates & policy on war, foreign policy, immigration, and other issues; and a quiz, DIY take home buttons, stickers, and more.
