What is Fascism Then & Now: Strategies for Communal Resistance
This interactive workshop explores the history and modern manifestations of fascism—tracing connections between 20th-century European fascism and the rise of Trumpism in the U.S. We’ll also discuss historical resistance movements and how their strategies can inspire our collective work today.

👥 Meet the Presenters
Dr. Sally Winkle (she/her) is professor emerita of German and Gender Studies at Eastern Washington University. She has lived in Spokane since 1983 and has long been engaged in social justice efforts. Sally co-authored The Nazi Germany Sourcebook and serves as PJALS Steering Committee Co-Chair.
Dr. Yasaman “Yasi” Naraghi (she/her) holds a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from the University of Washington. Her research focuses on the aesthetics of genius and its links to nationalism and totalitarianism—examining how these concepts shape far-right movements today. She is also PJALS Steering Committee Co-Chair.
