Building Race-Class Solidarity (BRCS): Workshop & Canvass Series
Understanding how race and class shape life in the U.S. is essential to meeting this moment. We cannot effectively organize against the MAGA regime and its billionaire backers without understanding the historical and present-day realities of racism and classism—including how these forces are used to divide everyday people.
Building Race-Class Solidarity (BRCS) is a five-part workshop and canvass series designed to help participants deepen their race-class analysis, reflect on their own identities and experiences, build practical organizing skills, and practice having meaningful conversations across differences.
Through two full-day workshops using curriculum from Eastern Washington University Professor of Sociology Pui-Yan Lam, participants will develop the analysis and skills needed to organize across race and class. We’ll then put those skills into action through three community canvasses, where participants will work together to encourage voters to oppose two transphobic ballot initiatives and block an appeal of the millionaire’s tax.

Sliding-Scale Registration
It costs PJALS approximately $7,750 to provide BRCS Parts 1 & 2, including food and drinks, facilitator compensation, curriculum, materials, and other program expenses. With 30 participants, that works out to approximately $130 per person for each full-day workshop.
We offer sliding-scale ticket prices because we want to support this program—not prevent anyone from participating. Please choose the rate that best fits your circumstances. If cost would be a barrier, we encourage you to select the Scholarship Rate.
