How We Fight Against State Violence

– jointly presented by PJALS and SCAR

Recent mass immigration raids, detention and deportation under the Trump Administration have raised awareness of corporate involvement and profits resulting from such federal actions. For activists to be effective in combating the mass state violence against BIPOC immigrants, we need to understand the interlocking power structures that support it. In this workshop, we will go over the evolution of the immigration-industrial-complex and the criminalization of immigration over the last few decades and brainstorm what actions we can take to dismantle this system of oppression.

We’re inviting you to a powerful conversation during our next Talk About It Tuesday! Let’s Talk About It! Join us on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 from 6:00–7:30 PM (via Zoom)

Militarism and the Immigration Industrial Complex: How We Fight Against State Violence Presented in collaboration with PJALS and SCAR (Spokane Community Against Racism)

Together, we’ll explore the ties between militarism, immigration enforcement, and corporate profit. From mass raids and deportations to for-profit detention centers, we’ll trace the history of the immigration-industrial complex and discuss what real resistance can look like—grounded in justice, solidarity, and action.

This session will include reflection, education, and space to imagine bold, people-powered change.
