Know-Your-Rights Canvassing Training
Thursday, March 26, 2026 | 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM
Across Spokane and across the country, our communities are strongest when we look out for one another. Workplaces are often on the front lines when immigration enforcement targets our neighbors, but many workers and businesses still lack clear information about their rights.
PJALS is partnering with Washington Neighborhood Defense (WAND) to host a volunteer canvassing training, sharing know-your-rights materials, signage, and rapid response tools with workplaces across Spokane County.
In this interactive session, participants will learn how to:
-
Explain Fourth Amendment protections in workplace encounters with ICE and CBP
-
Approach workplaces and build relationships with workers, managers, and owners
-
Share rights-based information and rapid response tools
-
Track outreach and support coordinated organizing
-
Connect workplace canvassing to broader collective action strategies, including general strikes
Guided roleplays will help participants build confidence in canvassing conversations. Participation does not obligate you to volunteer, though attendees will have the option to join a pilot workplace canvassing program afterward.
