Our SURJ (Showing Up for Racial Justice) committee has continued to meet via zoom on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month. Before COVID shook up our way of working, we had big plans to continue our doorbelling and outreach effort along with continuing our efforts to do direct support, financial and otherwise, to local groups led by people of color. This work has been on hold until we are back to full staff capacity with a new organizer joining our fantastic staff team giving us the capacity to move this work to online spaces.

In the meantime, the committee has grown and we have been having great book discussions. We finished “We Keep Us Safe: Building Secure, Just, and Inclusive Communities” by Zach Norris in August. We are now discussing How to Be an Antiracist by Ibram X. Kendi.

We would love to have you join us in our discussions and upcoming outreach work to advance antiracism including post-election actions.
