Talk About It Tuesday: Community Strike Readiness
What does it take for communities to support workers when collective action escalates?
Join PJALS for our August Talk About It Tuesday as we’re joined by Freedom Trainers for Community Strike Readiness, a 90-minute interactive training designed to prepare community members to effectively support strikes and other collective actions.
Strong labor movements depend not only on workers taking action, but on communities that are organized and ready to provide meaningful, sustained support. This training explores how everyday people can play an essential role in strengthening collective action before, during, and after a strike.
Participants will learn:
- The fundamentals of how strikes work.
- The many ways community members can support workers beyond the workplace.
- How to coordinate solidarity efforts that can be sustained over time.
- Lessons from historical strikes that confronted authoritarian regimes.
- Examples of recent collective action in the United States.
- How to apply these lessons to organizing and movement building in their own communities.
Whether you’re new to labor organizing or have years of organizing experience, this training offers practical tools, historical context, and opportunities to connect what you’ve learned to the work happening here in Spokane.
